Under Pressure received generally positive reviews from critics, drawing particular attention to Logic's bluntness in his storytelling, its perceptive lyricism, and the album's toned-down production, resembling the ever-changing production of rap and hip hop releases of the 1990s. The standard edition of the album contained no guest appearances Big Sean and Childish Gambino were featured on the album's deluxe edition. The album's production was primarily handled by No I.D., with smaller contributions from a variety of record producers, including 6ix, DJ Dahi, DJ Khalil, S1, Jake One and Dun Deal. Development and composition of the album began in 2013, with recording taking place during a two-week span at the beginning of 2014.

The song under pressure has two parts, the first half is me being under pressure as Logic, while the second half is me being under Pressure as Bobby. “As for the album titled Under Pressure is the title track on the album, I produced and wrote it while I was on tour with Kid Cudi, I had named the song “Under Pressure” on the road, but it wasn’t until I came home that I realized how important the song was, it was the FIRST song that not only began the album process but showed me the direction I was going. I gave him a collection of various old photos from different angles of the old place and he got it right to every last detail, so the day one fans will remember and enjoy,” Logic said over email.
